Cristiano Ronaldo's brand keeps growing off the pitch as he is now the most followed person on Instagram.

Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo is now the most followed celebrity on Instagram after overtaking Selena Gomez a popular American musician and actress.

The 33-year-old who is a five-time winner of the Ballon d'Or is making success n and off the pitch.

He has always been among the most followed celebrities in the world along with superstars such as Beyonce and Taylor Swift.

However, Ronaldo has taken his brand to a whole new level with his recent achievement as the most followed person in the world who happens to be a sportsman and not in the entertainment sector.

According to a recent post that surfaced, Ronaldo and Gomez are both tied on 144 million followers but the Portuguese footballer edges his rival as he is very close to 145 million.

Ronaldo who has been building his brand as he visited China for the CR7 tour during the off season  leveraging on his personality to help push several products and sponsorships on his Instagram account.

His Instagram  post which announced his move to Juventus on July 16 captioned Forza Juve' is the fifth most liked in since the launch of the app and with 12.2 million.

Ronaldo’s usage of social media is not limited to just Facebook but also has an estimated 75 million followers on Twitter along with another 120 million followers on Facebook.

The Portuguese forward is recently battling rape accusations but has not stopped the growth on social media as he continues to deliver on the pitch.

He is expected to return to action when Juventus take on Cagliari in their next Italian Serie A fixture scheduled for Saturday, November 3.
