Sen Kabir Mafara explains why Gov Yari should be expelled from APC

Zamfara State Governor Abdulaziz Yari should be expelled from the APC because of the way he was undermining the party’s chances in the state, Sen. Kabiru Marafa has said.

Marafa, a leading APC governorship aspirant in the state, in a statement in Abuja, yesterday, gave 10 reasons that, he said, should make the national leadership of APC sack Yari from its fold.

The senator, who is chairman of the Senate Committee on Petroleum (downstream), said what Yari did to the APC in Zamfara State was akin to stabbing the party.

Marafa, an ardent supporter of President Muhammadu Buhari, said Yari’s expulsion becomes necessary to stop the governor and his cohorts from their plot to pull down the APC and frustrate the second term bid of the president.

“The governor should be expelled for gross indiscipline and violation of our party constitution. The measure becomes necessary to maintain party discipline and deter others that may be tempted to take similar actions to achieve their selfish objectives,” he said.

Some of the 10 reasons Marafa gave were that Yari frustrated the efforts of the NWC to conduct direct primaries for Zamfara State; directed state officials to conclude an election that was cancelled by a panel that has legal authority to do so as well as aided and abetted violence that led to the death of six people, and injuring of many others on October 3.

Other reasons he said were, insulting publicly the National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole  and issuing threats to cause  bloodshed if the NWC refused to do his bidding; announcing the result of an illegal election conducted by his faction in violation of subsisting court order; and causing disunity and disaffection among APC family in Zamfara, among others.
