Morethan 10,000 families are in 6 IDP camps, in Niger

More than 10,000 families are currently in six Internally Displaced Persons Camps in Niger state, ActionAid, an International donor organization has disclosed.

Daily Trust recalls that flood occasioned by heavy downpours had sacked several communities in 22 out of the 25 local government areas of the state this rainy season.

ActionAid Nigeria revealed that the camps are located in Zungeru, Wushishi local government area and Cheku Muye and Maikakaki communities in Lapai Council of the state.

The ActionAid’s Humanitarian and Resilience Officer Mr Anicetus Atakpu told journalists at the ” start- up” of distribution of relief materials to flood survivors in Zungeru IDPs camp in Niger state on Friday that the organisation is already intervening in three states including Delta, Kogi and Anambra which were designated as “red zone ” by federal government.

He disclosed that materials valued at N45m were to be given to the affected people in the four states.
